Riverview's PTA focus this year is on literacy and health. We are advocating for literacy through our Take Home Reading Library and Book Buddies. We have raised a majority of the money needed to purchanse The Take Home Reading Library. It should be up and running by Christmas. We are pushing for healthy children by providing pedometers, hosting a Sports Saturday, and holding a Family Fitness Challenge each month.
So far we have purchased DK Eyewitness science DVDs to enhance the science curriculum at Riverview. We have Insect, Ocean, and Volcano. We hope to be able to "purchase" the entire set through our Campbell's Labels for Education UPC labels.
We will be donating PE equipment each month to the classroom that brings in the most in Box Tops. Each class that wins will get to earn items like playground balls, jump ropes, basketballs, and soccer balls. The Box Tops give money to our school while we use our Campbell's Labels to "purchase" the playgroud equipment.
You can turn in your old printer cartridges and cell phones in the office and that we recycle those items and earn money for the school at the same time.
PTA dues are only $6 for an individual or $12 for a family. Your dues go toward funding PTA programs like: Reflections, Health and Fitness, Knowledge Bowl, Classrom Curriculum Support, Take Home Reading Library, Fall Festival and more!
Paying PTA dues and becoming a member of the PTA does not mean you have to volunteer your time to PTA as well. Paying PTA dues supports our programs and allows you to vote on what we do with the donation. We always need volunteers for large and small tasks. If you are intrested we would LOVE to hear from you.
